The 2 main organs of detox are the Liver (via colon) and the kidney. Cleansing the liver-colon dyad will ultimately cleanse the kidneys too, although in special circumstances one may need to focus on the kidney.
The most simple cleanse one can do is to avoid all stimulants, sugar and yeast products and to drink a large quantity of water and consume a lot of fibre (50-60 grams):
• water: ½ body weight in ounces every day or at least for 10 days. So if I weigh 140 pounds then I’ll drink 70 ounces of water (8 ounces per cup or 8-9 cups). Pure water flushes the kidneys and moistens fibre, adding weight to stool.
• Fibre: Depending on one’s condition, psyllium may be the best source of fibre being 100% (35% soluble fibre and 65% non-soluble). For constipation and other cleansing purposes take 1 tablespoon of ground psyllium husk/seed in the morning and at night with 16 ounces of water. Fibre provides physical bulk and mucilage to stool, easing the transition. It also cleans the sides of the colon, picking up debris along the way. IF not drinking enough water then psyllium will constipate. Also if one is sensitive to psyllium, exchange fresh ground flax seeds.

This regime can be done ongoing in the case of constipation and hypertension, or for a 10-day cleanse. Do this twice per year at least, during spring and fall.
