when the liver speak, doth tweak. the liver is the workhorse of the body with its cells, the hepatocytes fulfilling a load of nutritional functions such as bile production, cholesterol synthesis, protein and carbohydrate metabolism, insulin breakdown, phase 1 and phase 2 detoxification with no machine able to replace all the roles this organ plays. sometimes the liver gets so tired and it threatens to go on strike and laments poor working conditions with a pain in your right side, non-allergy related eye and skin itch, a craving or intolerance for bitter foods, mysterious fat gain. when the liver gets like this placate it, or even better, prevent its bewilderings with a twice yearly cleanse. ah yes, the liver lives well in presence of bitter and sour foods, high fibre and vegetarian for some weeks: olive oil, grapefruit, epsom salts, beets, greens, lemons, organic apples, psyllium, lecithin, brown rice, organic carrots and teas: dandelion, milk thistle, chicory, licorice, yellow dock. sugar makes it mad, and you dont want to piss off the liver, since it pretty much does everything for you. lurv your liver while you still can.
