this one’s for your baby! little digestive systems are often weak, especially if there’s a history of allergies, yeast or digestive disorders with mamma. to lessen gas and unplug the bloat nursing mother’s can perk up to what foods are distressing little one. common culprits are coffee, dairy, garlic and cabbage. cut these out for a week to measure improvement and reintroduce one by one to see what causes more
crying.
for treatment, probiotics are best to eat up all the little nasties in the system. i like neonatogen by genestra 1 mini spoon daily. gripe water is available on shelves but sometimes a teaspoon or two of fennel tea is good enough, also fennel essential oil dropped in a palm of olive oil rubbed from ‘your-left-to-right’ below the rib cage can cause the pain to subside tout de suite. with these remedies AND MORE, there’s definitely cure for colic.

sleep and tv are NOT the same…first of all, you burn more calories sleeping than you do watching tv, second: watching television elevates your stress hormones whereas sleeping lowers them 3) falling asleep in front of the television causes sleep disorders in 25 % of children. yikes.
therefore sleep and tv are not the same. thank you.

so much energy is wasted on ignoring the body’s signals. if the body is talking to you, listen up! if you crave deep fried food but feel pain or cramping afterward, take them out! if you crave sugar and simple carbs but feel sluggish and bloated within minutes of eating them, acknowledge your body’s wisdom and switch away from a gluten-based diet; if you love your dairy but literally split a gut within moments, switch to goat’s… then you wont have to spend so much time having to self medicate the depression, ezcema, psoriasis, irritability, ibs, menstrual cramps, headaches, fatigue, lethargy…and can prevent decades of symptoms that follow having the improper diet.
this is master’s level in energy efficiency so take this quiz: http://pediatrics.about.com/cs/nutrition/l/blquz_foodaller.htm

someone told me today that the best time to plant a tree was 30 years ago but the second best time is….right now. instead of playing the woulda-shoulda-coulda whipping game, act today on who you would like to be in 3 or 30 years. plant a seed, start an adventure. do it now.

multiple choice question:
which has the most energetic chemistry goin’ on?
1) McCain’s deep and delicious pizza
2) PC Blue Menu Instant Minestrone Soup
3) Steak et Frites avec p’tite salade
4) Baked wild halibut with boiled non organic sweet potatoes and a large serving of organic broccoli
5) Large Double Double from Tim’s
The answer is 4, the more fresh vegetables you eat the better you’ll feel because they have nutrients and fibre, the fish has omega 3 fatty acids and protein. Then 3, then 2, then 1, then 5. The steak frites might be great chemistry if the horse was happily raised and the fries are skinny and proportional to the salade. Instant soup, even if it’s Blue while better than canned, better than thick whitey pizza dough, but not GOOD. Massive amounts of coffee trix our body into thinking it’s got energy when really it’s getting more tired by the gallon.

in order to increase energy, improve sleep patterns. it’s only at night that the body heals itself; repairs cells, bone tissue, reduces inflammation and rests. sleeping during the day doesn’t provide the same benefits, unless it’s a 10-20 minute cat nap. studies show that sleeping between 7-8 hours for anyone is the way to go. more than 8 hours predisposes to stress, obesity, pain, and lethargy; under 7 hours, to the same set of problems plus mania. if trouble sleeping is a problem then wear scarlett o’hara satin blinders so that there is absolutely no light in your room at night, dont keep a night light on as it interferes with sleep hormones, set aside a time to worry at your kitchen table from 8:30-9:00 so you dont take it to bed and finally, stop drinking so much caffeine in the afternoon!
this is meant to help.

do you know the arguing good and bad versions of yourself that present on your shoulder in television shows like the flintstones and bugs bunny?

conjure them. now pretend the good version is you in your truest and best form, the version of you who always knows what’s right for you even if it doesn’t make any sense.
now pretend the bad version is that person in your life who’s always told you that you can never get it right, don’t try because you might not succeed, you need them to make it through the day or else you’d be nothing without them, you ungrateful little…snip the head on of that one. go ahead.
that’s called energy conservation 202.

this week I will focus on rebalancing energy or Qi (chi). decide what to harness versus relinquish in your life by looking at its net energy effect. For instance right now I wonder if I expend more energy with facebook than I gain, so i’m quitting it for a little while to see what happens.

we all have things, people, thoughts, patterns and behaviours that tire us out. stress and its sequelae may be a major killer in our culture today. with my help this week, figure out what’s dead weight in your life and replace it with a bonus.

this guy in my writing class asked me last week what lyrics really inspired me when I was in high school. for some reason I can’t remember Nazareth or 2 Live Crew inspired me….but these days a couple of songs that begin with the same two words, slow and down, have persistently made me ponder achieving psychoemotional inertia in a fast paced world. as my psyschologist friend Monica Vermani insists “it’s not healthy to function well in a sick society”. so at the risk of sounding like a Rob Brezsny Astrology reading (http://www.freewillastrology.com/) I encourage you pursuers of health to seek out lyrics that affect deep satisfying change in your lifestyle.
here are my picks:
Simon and Garfunkel’s “59th Street Bridge Song” (AKA Feelin’ Groovy) :http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xdRTI7FYqUc
Billy Joel’s “Vienna” : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s2cykbg89R8
find your own or feel free to use mine
