this guy in my writing class asked me last week what lyrics really inspired me when I was in high school. for some reason I can’t remember Nazareth or 2 Live Crew inspired me….but these days a couple of songs that begin with the same two words, slow and down, have persistently made me ponder achieving psychoemotional inertia in a fast paced world. as my psyschologist friend Monica Vermani insists “it’s not healthy to function well in a sick society”. so at the risk of sounding like a Rob Brezsny Astrology reading (http://www.freewillastrology.com/) I encourage you pursuers of health to seek out lyrics that affect deep satisfying change in your lifestyle.
here are my picks:
Simon and Garfunkel’s “59th Street Bridge Song” (AKA Feelin’ Groovy) :http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xdRTI7FYqUc
Billy Joel’s “Vienna” : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s2cykbg89R8
find your own or feel free to use mine
