Walk your way to slimness. The average sedentary lifestyle consists of a daily walking regime of 2000 steps. To use this ‘walk for life’ method to lower weight one must pede in multiples of 2000 steps with a goal of 10, 000 steps per day for weight loss (equivalent to an hour and fifteen minutes/day). The more weight one wishes to lose the more steps one should walk at 70% heart rate, as each one burns calories, being more important than speed or time. So the next time someone asks you how fast you are tell them to check your pedometer.

you are what you eat.  in Chinese Medical philosophy life force known as essence comes to us in two forms: from our parents at conception and then again on a daily basis, from food.  So if you eat food with good essence you will have good essence.  if you eat food with good chemistry, you will have good chemistry.  if you eat living food you will have energy.  if you eat nutrient-rich health food, you will be nutrient rich.  eat what you wish to become rather than what’s convenient.

Tempt yourself with the sugars of a carmelized onion. Abstaining from added sugar, artificial sweeteners, juice, pop, candy, milk chocolate, pastries and sugary alcohols for 6 weeks will allow your taste buds to return to normal. They’ll re-adjust to enjoy the natural sugars in grains, vegetables and fruit while keeping the calories out of way so you not only taste sweeter you look sweeter too.

Take the heat.  When put on the hot seat, I will own up to what I’ve done wrong, learn from mistakes and incorporate them into my life’s lessons.  Then it will feel cool.

Go to Spain, if only in practice.  The siesta or an afternoon nap is beneficial if the mind can be trained to keep it to less than 30 minutes as it promotes wakefulness, enhances performance and learning ability.  If that same nap is habitually extended it may be associated, unfortunately, with death, especially among the elderly.  So keep those naps short, mi amigos.

Don’t dine on plastic wine (eg. Little Penguin). While reusing and reclycing plastic is necessary to reduce the landfill burden and perhaps one day the human race will have to incorporate plastic and harmful estrogens into genetic code to pass the newest survival-of-the-fittest tests. But until that day when future generations are born with a nutritional need for IV plastic as medicine, choose glass and stainless steel containers for food and drink as much as possible, since plastics tend to leach off bisphenols and xenoestrogens faster in acidic environments; wine, pop, club soda, beer juice, mineral water, spirits.

If symptoms; mysterious but worrisome, irksome but ‘all in your head’, random but physiological, psychological or emotional, are keeping you up, itching, in pain, bloated, moody, feeling toxic, sans bebe, stumping health-care providers and no answers with medicine then consider this statement “luckily for you, I happen to be a quack.”  [Richter cartoon caption].

Eat seeds for your little seeds.  Studies show that EPO, an important long chain fatty acid found in the oils of cold water fish, walnuts and certain seeds will help maintain reproductive integrity, spawning healthy gametes for both sexes and regulating menstrual cycles in the process. 1)From new moon (or first day of menses) to day before full moon (ovulation) = flaxseeds & pumpkin seeds 2)From full moon (ovulation) to day before new moon (menses) = sesame seeds & sunflower seeds.  The XX and XYs of the next generation will bounce for joy!

Adventure into the kitchen.  Eat more nutritious food at home on a tight schedule by setting 1-2 hours twice weekly aside to get your hands “dirty”.  Connect with your food again by picking your favorite one-dish recipe and making a big pot of it from scratch. Set half aside for freezing, eat it once daily for ½ the week or host a dinner party to make the most of your time in the kitchen.  You’ll be happy you found the time.

Problems got you singing the blues?  Can’t get no!

Get satisfied with a diet of inclusion. Balance blood sugar, solve fatty acid and mineral deficiencies and lose weight with three simple steps: 1) fill half your lunch and dinner plates with dark green veggies or sea greens 2) take 3 caps of distilled fish oils with EPO or 2 tablespoons of flax seeds/walnuts 3) Take 3 capsules of high-end probiotics including Lactobacillus, Bifidus and FOS at night before bed. Aah, satisfaction.
