unwind with routine.  the circadian rhythm is tied to the cortisol rhythm which means that we are animals of time, no matter how we fight it we are diurnal, meaning of the day.  When the sun rises in the morning, so does the internal clock telling us to wake up; likewise when the sun sets so does the natural energy level.  Adjusting wake and sleep time to fit work or lifestyle is destabilizing to the endocrine system namely the hypothalamus, endocrine, pineal gland and ultimately our gonads.  Whereas establishing wake and meal times daily within a half hour from one day to the next goes a long way in keeping energy in the tank.  To rebuild energy or cortisol levels try the following routine: wake at 7, take hot lemon water, eat breakfast, snack at 10, lunch at 1, snack at 4, dine at 7, tea at 9:45, 10 oclock bedtime, asleep by 11.

Partner and others wanting to visit the baby can help clean, babysit other kids, cook or bring food and pay bills so that the mother-baby pair can bond without the added stress of bouncing back quickly during this vulnerable time. Rule of thumb for taking it easy: one week in bed, one week on bed, one week around bed can help prevent post partum depression.

roast winter squash seeds.  Pumpkin, acorn and butternut squash to name a few contain mineralicious seeds inside not to be ignored when preparing your favorite harvest dishes.  Think of these seeds as delicious supplements when consumed in dose, anti-helmintics capable of clearing the intestines of parasites and rich in zinc for the male prostate gland.  Grind with flax, olive oil and salt to make seed butter when scooped and rinsed.

Toasted Seeds
INGREDIENTS

    * 1 cup winter squash seeds
    * 1 tablespoon olive oil

optional ingredients: minced garlic, paprika, ground cumin

DIRECTIONS

   1. Preheat the oven to 275 degrees F (135 degrees C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or aluminum foil.
   2. After removing the seeds from the squash, rinse with water, and remove any strings and bits of squash. Pat dry, and place in a small bowl. Stir the olive oil and salt into the seeds until evenly coated. Spread out in an even layer on the prepared baking sheet.
   3. Bake for 15 minutes, or until seeds start to pop. Remove from oven and cool on the baking sheet before serving.
