millie says clean your kidney beans

kidney beanskidneys

clean your kidney beans. The primary role of the complex renal system is to balance bodily fluids by filtering and secreting metabolites and minerals from the blood and passing them with water. in doing so urine filters out water soluble debris and balances blood synthesis, sugar and pressure. the most useful element for cleaning the nephron is pure water. litres of it per day will call the wild, and the more the better in order to fulfill the above functions. a low to moderate sodium, sugar and allergen intake is also necessary to help the regulators regulate. certain foods and herbs that raise renal raison d’etre are a regular addition of sour foods (cranberry, sour cherries and lemon), foods high in chlorophyll (parsley, kale, dandelion), and herbal tea concoction of juniper berry, marshmallow root, cleavers, oatstraw, horsetail, dandelion root, uva ursi help the kidney function their best. dont avoid the void, pass the pass.

millie says AGE gracefully not gruesomely

AGE gracefully not gruesomely. who knows the definitive answer why marlon brando plunged from utmost physical beauty quickly over to the other side… using he, who was emotionally tormented (stress’ed), laden with diabetes (obese, sugared and pickled), had congestive heart failure (obese, oxidatively damaged) and cancer (mutated cell’ed) as a shockingly poignant example….one can envision AGE, despite its chemical complexities.

advanced glycation entities (AGE) are the result of a chemical process in the body that happens when a poor lifestyle (high fat, sugar, alcohol, smoking meets low fruits, veggies, antioxidants, fibre, exercise) greets middle age. what you get when you combine overdoses of sugar and with free-radicals in the long run. beauty one decade, beast the next. these lead to wrinkles, large pores and nevi in the nose, blindness from cataracts, clogs in the arteries leading to strokes and heart attacks and possibly cancer, of which marlon brando had…them all.

millie says pass the CAGE AUDIT

I once knew a guy who got over alcohol dependency with tablespoons of raw honey every time he wanted a drink.

do you pass the CAGE AUDIT? so you work hard, play harder. you’re an artist, musician, designer, cultural vector representing a minority of the thinking kind, not ‘class’ cuz da politically enlightened dont use that word. networking is part of the game; openings, parties and hopefully free booze. or maybe you daylight-moonlight as a corporati working long hours, spreading yourself thin, just to get to that next position of exclusive perks, keeping it together posturing yourself as hard working clever cool. maybe you have a family and the stress is higher at home than it is at work. or maybe you’re a student or you were a student and got lost between final exams and a job fair in whistler, alberta. or maybe you just got dumped, widowed, orphaned, fired, traumatized or injured, people say you’re fortunate to have survived that one, but you’re not feeling very lucky. you may wonder do you drink socially, socially considering your situation or do you just plain have a problem?

here’s the test, the CAGE questionnaire. a score of 2 or more will encourage you to the AUDIT self-test, The World Health Organization’s Alcohol Use Disorder’s Identification Test. 8 or more could be a reason to seek treatment or support- links below).

1) Two “yes” responses indicate that you should be investigated further. The questionnaire asks the following questions:

  1. Have you ever felt you needed to Cut down on your drinking?
  2. Have people Annoyed you by criticizing your drinking?
  3. Have you ever felt Guilty about drinking?
  4. Have you ever felt you needed a drink first thing in the morning (Eye-opener) to steady your nerves or to get rid of a hangover?

millie says know this echinacea

know this E-C-H-I-N-A-C-E-A and buy wisely. one would think the way that echinacea is marketed that it helps to prevent colds. in actual fact, due to many variations in the species, plant part (aerial parts are leaf and stem. roots are under ground), delivery and dosage, it’s actually a trickier plant to consume properly than most others; knowing what, when and how to take echinacea is necessary for good results. the purple cone flower, member of the asteraceae is a great immune booster with mild anti viral properties due to phenol content. though known for warding off colds, it actually may be better used for convalescing; getting over that cold that seems to drag on’an’on or for those with a tendency for infections; cold, yeast, urinary, bronchial, etc. of the several species, angustifolia, pallida and purpura have been studied most. research is inconsistent on which ones work the best although the roots of pallida and angustifolia may ward off and the aerial parts of the purpurea plant may help recover faster; get a mixed tincture to cover all the bases. water extracts such as teas and dry capsules do not perform well for echinacea as the properties need to be diluted in alcohol for strong potency. Take 30 drops every 2-4 hours at the very first onset of cold for a couple of days. If the cold comes on anyway, stop until starting to feel better. if the malady lingers then take 30 drops every 3-4 hours for a week to raise immune system. don’t take it if auto-immune condition or on immune suppressing drugs. but most importantly do not waste money on shoddy echinacea or that’s how you’ll continue to feel. pooped.

millie says buy into brown apricots

buy into brown apricots. sulphates are one of the oldest preservatives in food, keeping everything from dried fruits to wine and beer to deli and luncheon meats to sausages to instant potatoes aged just-right for the taste of convenience. these foods made at home would contain health preserving probiotics and sea salt, but for the million-mile diet without the sulphates (sulfates), foods dont keep as long and cost more due to ‘get-what-you-pay-for’ philosophy of cost over quality. key point is that studies show it’s better to keep this nasty preservative out of the diet as it’s been linked to the embarrassing rotten egg smell emanating from you-know-where to food allergies to inflammatory bowel diseases to colon cancer. due to a string of chemical processes that create sulphur-reducing baceria in the gut, your intestines could resemble the sludge at the bottom of from a scottish swamp, and that aint healthy but capable of coroding metal tubes, let alone tissue pipes. here we go: sulphates in food and drink > sulphites > then create a poisonous waste product called hydrogen sulphide (odorous), which to humans, the compound is as toxic as cyanide > in water, it rapidly becomes highly corrosive sulphuric acid. so eat suphur like cabbage and garlic but not sulphates like orange apricots and pastrami.

millie says calibrate the span of life and health

calibrate the span of life and health. currently north americans suffer most from preventable ‘illnesses of excess’ related to smoking, drinking, poor diets, stress and lack of exercise. Some of these conditions include metabolic syndrome, heart disease, depression, kidney diseases, diabetes type II, infertility and certain cancers. we are living longer but suffering more chronically resulting in a life though lengthy, not necessarily happy. Canada currently ranks 10th on the map of merriment while the land-of-the-free-home-of-the-brave is way down the list at number 23. trudging moderately through the wasteful mounds of temptation to find long-lasting wellbeing as lightness at the end of the tunnel can be achieved by OWNING this chart of science simplified. I said O-W-N it.

millie says donta mixa meds-ah

donta mixa meds-ah…or at least know which meds not to mix. taking a birth control medication like alesse, the one that’s promoted to be the picture of perfection? or taking the occasional ativan to calm down? taking both? taking the occasional ativan, alesse, and an herbal supplement for energy or concentration like gingko or panax ginseng without the ok from some who knows what’s up? taking the occasional ativan, ginseng and/or ginseng, alesse and over-the-counter anti-histamine, have asked your doctor if it’s ok and they said they didn’t know?  doing the body good by drinking grapefruit a few times per week? can’t get an appointment to see your doctor? can’t get a doctor and have never heard of a naturopathic to ask their advice? having a few beers daily to unwind? can’t afford a naturopath? check it out for yourself. see 7 reasons why these things don’t mix by searching interactions here.

millie says tap to heal

tap to heal. there once was an organ who dwells in the chest behind the breast bone or sternum as those detail oriented folks say. lying close to the heart, made stronger by self-love, self-care, joy, prayer and hope it was devoted to helping the body heal itself. its name was thymus gland, an endocrine organ committed to the activation of fighter and helper cells synthesized in the bone marrow. thymus gland would spring into action telling specific white cells to go to the area of weakness, infection when repair and defense was needed. this was a big job especially when it resides within the body of tired, stressed, overworked, overdrugged individuals. thymus gland told me to relay a message to you so that you would enable its ability to heal your body. if it could talk it would say “tap me to heal; I need you to be relaxed to function well; tap me to heal right at the breast bone with the tips of your fingers; coordinated arm and leg movements strengthen me such as swimming, yoga, brain games, marching; tap me to heal gently but with intent; I am nourished by antioxidants, sleep, probiotics, and astragalus; tap to heal me heal you.”

millie says select superior salba seed

select superior salba seed. an ancient medicinal food related to the mint plant, Salvia hispanica L, was historically used by the aztecs who fed it to their messengers to give them running stamina. the white colored salba has been bred to be higher in nutrients than many other superfoods combined. nutty, gelatinous and satisfying this superseed is high protein, omega 3, fibre, magnesium, folate (folic acid), potassium, calcium, iron and vitamin C. satisfying as it cuts foods cravings, maintains blood sugar levels and encourages a positive mood, consider this a well rounded food supplement. Take in porridge, cereal, shakes, salads, yogurt, bread or by itself, 2 tablespoons reportedly contains 6 X more calcium than a glass of milk. so watcha waiting for, suck on salba.

millie says fix the chocolate

fix the chocolate. cocoa, a naturally brown-not-white- bitter condiment in its cooked form contains caffeine, theobromine, theophyllines and tyramines, is habit forming and hepato(liver)toxic enough to kill a dog. When milk-laden though it’s liver toxic capacity decreases as does it’s nutritional presence and the insulinergic and hyperglycemic strength soars as it takes fat and sugar to boot to get it to taste so sweet. cacao or raw chocolate, however is dried without heat and preserved in it’s natural skin, like a peanut. it is high in antioxidants, minerals such as calcium and magnesium, lower in caffeine. actually relaxing to the central nervous system, a serotonin mimicker, naturally unsweetened, it makes a good afternoon feel-good snack. mix with flax, sunflower seeds and dried cherries for a taste explosion. second fix idea, take hot cocoa flavored with cinnamon or cayenne, salba, stevia or dark maple syrup to get your fix. count chocula has nothing on you.
